Amalfi Your Way at Villa Margherita

With a Full-Time Butler and a Matisse For Decor, This Villa is Not to be Missed

1,000 feet above the Amalfi Coast nestled within the idyllic town of Ravello is a villa that encompasses all the beauty of the famed Italian Riviera and folds it into a property that is as elegant and refined as it is cozy and comforting.

This home, which hails from the 11th century, is an ideal hideaway from which to enjoy the spoils of the Amalfi because this property has been designed with privacy in mind. Surrounded by lush gardens of lemon and olive trees and perched high over the sea, the Villa Margherita at Caruso is so well-suited for privacy that guests never have to leave the property if they so desire. From functional office spaces for efficient work-from-home scenarios, to a full-time private butler, to a private chef who will serve all meals should both the suites of the property be booked, guests have everything in place to do Amalfi on their own terms.

The villa consists of two bi-level suites, each with a master bedroom, living room (which converts to a second bedroom) and two bathrooms. They can be rented separately or together and add up to almost 2,000 square feet of living space.

While privacy is key, guests are just within walking distance to the nearby Belmond Hotel Caruso in town with its tennis courts, restaurants, spa and bars all at the guests' disposal (Villa residents receive 20% on their spending at the property), all while Positano and Amalfi are just next door.

This villa is a design lover’s paradise as there is fine attention placed on detail and decor. Note an ode to Venice seen in the hand painted Venetian settee which sits draped with an Hermes blanket atop a Bessarabian-style Kilim carpet. Just behind the settee is the dining table flanked by 18th-century Neapolitan chairs finished with Fortuny fabric from the 1960’s. There are other examples of fine vintage textiles from British and French fabric makers including Colefax and Fowler, and Braquenié. Each room is finished with hand-painted trompe-l’oeil ceilings by the famed house of L'Artigianato, the Milan-based designers, and depict different scenes of the Amalfi Coast. This ode to art and artisanship is tied together with the art on the walls from the 1970’s piece by French painter Jean Debuffet, to the pièce de la résistance, an original Matisse.

Prices start from 30,000 Euros for 7 days (33,000 with 10% VAT) and includes free daily breakfast.
