Enjoy Royal Country Life at Castello di Lispida

More Than a Villa, This is a Castle

Castello di Lispida is a place where centuries old extravagance meets life on the land for a pure taste of royal country life. The property changed hands many times over the course of its existence, and went from ownership by Augustines monks, to Italian Earls, to being King Vittorio’s headquarters during World War I. What has always remained, though, is that this property is more than a villa, it’s a proper castle.

Sitting upon 225 acres of rich land which produces an abundance of wine and olives, the castle itself consists of 10 apartments that make up the guest quarters of this property, each of which vary in design from old world opulence to classical-meets-minimalism.

For example, the former chambers of King Vittorio called La Dimora del Rey (where he stayed in 1918), begins atop a grand stone staircase which opens to a formal living room that features lavishly upholstered furniture sat among walls made of giant slabs of grey marble with accents like antique Chinoiserie cabinets and a private billiards table. While in the two-bedroom Il Monastero apartment, the interior design is more subdued, somewhat modern, even, or in the La Torretta apartment where the interiors have an almost exclusively farmhouse vibe. The style of each apartment varies so much that each one has their own star rating (they are all either 4 or 5 stars).

Overall, the feeling at Castello di Lispida is one of relaxed, country chic laced with notable Italian provenance. It stays true to its roots as an earnest, landed getaway but has been transformed into a plush, yet not overdone, retreat.

The expansive parcel of land sits within the protected area of the Euganean Hills Natural Park, and so the property hosts many activities that take advantage of nature’s gifts like hikes or bike rides. The true gem is the property’s own thermal lake and hot springs which produces therapeutic mud for an utterly unique and relaxing experience. For a more pampered affair, there are several thermal centers which offer full-spa experiences including massages, facials, and mud therapy. Within all this natural beauty, there is still much culture to be had in the nearby towns of Padova and Venice.

Also, this property is set up for entertaining, whether it’s for a 100-person wedding or a 10-person dinner, making it a perfect backdrop to a memorable affair.
